Let’s talk about the 1st. I’m not going to lie, the thought of spending money on something that I can’t really do anything about scares me. But even if you can’t do it, you can do something about it.
This is a great one to use when you want to go out to eat and you don’t have a waiter: One of the great things that I do on a regular basis is to research and buy local restaurants. Of course, most of my research is for restaurants with the best food. If I’m in a city that I don’t really know I can look for out-of-the-ordinary restaurants that are pretty much the same as the ones I know.
If you have a friend who has been to your favorite restaurant and you want to go, you can easily set up a Google Map and see if it’s within walking distance or not. If it’s not within walking or driving distance, you can still plan out a trip and find the restaurant via a map. This is great when you are a tourist and also when you are in the area in between visits.
Although you can easily look up every local food shop in the city, this can be a bit of a pain if you’re a big city. There is a place called “1-US-Dollar-to-Eth” that will check you out if you have the correct 1% to eth on your card. Their main site is an ad-free site where you can fill out the forms and they will provide you with the info you need.

We were on an assignment in New York City and were looking for a place to get a little free food for a dollar to eat. We saw this place on the ‘net and thought it was a good chance to eat there, so we followed the directions. We got directions to the address, which we figured was probably a real place we should explore, but we never got there. We called the police and they were pretty insistent that we just get back on the bus and go home.
The people who wrote this story don’t seem to realize that these are not good ideas. The police are going to get called in every time they have to call someone with a fake address, and they are going to have a lot of time to figure out if the address is real or not. We were doing our best to follow the directions, but they are just too hard to get. It would have been so much easier to just go on a train.
