In the Defi market, everything plays its own role. For example, cryptocurrency allows us to store our money safely or earn more money by trading them. Meanwhile, major exchanges like Coinbase and Kraken help us to trade those cryptocurrencies. All of these are the instruments of the Defi market that keep it running and gaining more and more popularity among users. Today, we will talk about influencers, but not everyday Instagram influencers. We will talk about Crypto influencers and what they do to provide utility to the Defi ecosystem?
Today, we will talk about one of the most famous influencers, Crypto Cobain.
Crypto Cobain initially used this pseudonymous name, but later, he revealed his real name, which is Jordan Fish. He is a British trader and investor. His popularity can be estimated from the fact that he has 800,000 followers on Twitter. His pseudonym, CryptoCobain, was inspired by the American grunge icon and Nirvana lead, Kurt Cobain. Jordan completed his studies at Bristol University and studied computer science.
Cobain had already discovered the potential of Bitcoin in the year 2013 and even launched his own cryptocurrency called MaxCoin. This was just a soft fork of Bitcoin andwas based on a famous celebrity, Max Keiser, who also supported this coin significantly. However, it lost relevance too early in the year 2014.
Apart from cryptocurrency, his life has been filled with a lot of endeavours. His interest in the tech and payment industry led him to a job in the famous social media and digital marketing company CYOA, where he held the position of head of technology.
Later in 2017, Cobie took on a senior role at Monzo, where he made a public announcement about the potential as a deceit-free monetary system.
In 2021, Cobie played a significant role in helping one of the most popular liquid stalking platforms for the Ethereum blockchain. Today, the token of this platform ranks 32 on the coin market cap in terms of market cap, with a price of $1.92 and a market cap of $1,687,663,640.
The year 2021 was bustling with activity in the crypto industry, and Cobie’s Twitter feed reflected it well. Rather than posting charts and educational trading content, Cobie focused more on commenting on major incidents related to the crypto industry and other current affairs in the crypto world.
Later, Cobie began hosting the famous podcast called UpOnly with his co-host Brian Krogsgrad, who is also a Twitter influencer and speaks about crypto. This show included interviews famous personalities and highlighted their views. It gained immense popularity when it hosted the biggest mainstream personality, Mark Cuban. Even on Friday night when FTX was hacked, Cobie engaged in discussions with the company’s wealth manager.
Cobie was also involved in revealing scams in the crypto industry. For example, he published a series of tweets regarding insider trading at Coinbase, which led to an investigation against its product-manager.
