When we were in Samoa we had a chance to visit the biggest and most important church in the country, the church of Saint Joseph. There you can see the church and its interior, not the outside. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It has an exquisite interior with a beautiful stone wall, a large wooden altar, and a beautiful stained-glass window showing the crucifixion of Jesus. Its a beautiful church that is not just for religious people. Its about the people who live there.

I had been to some of the smaller churches in Samoa and they all looked the same. It was so weird to be there in Samoan, so beautiful and yet so dead. So to speak.

This is the church which is not just for religious people. It has been called “Samoan” because of the language used by the people who live there. In fact, the church has the names of three of the islands off the coast of Samoa. The church is where we will be taking our first step on the path to self-awareness. I’m hoping that with our new knowledge of our surroundings, we will also become better aware of our surroundings.
